From the Collection

January 21–February 21, 2010

As of January 20, 2010 the Hasselblad Foundation's comprehensive image collection is published on the web, searchable by all who want to discover of our fantastic photographic collection. To emphasize the publishing, a small selection from the collection is shown, the exhibition at the Hasselblad Center includes about fifty images that show the rich content, which summarizes the Hasselblad Foundation's photographic collection.

The exhibition From the Collection consists of five categories;
The Swedish, represented by, among others, Gunnar Smoliansky, Denise Grünstein, Helena Blomqvist and Tuija Lindström. The Young Nordic, with, among others, Pernilla Zetterman, Lovisa Ringborg and Mårten Lange. The International, with Anton Corbijn, Esko Männikkö and Deborah Turbeville. Portraits in which Annika Karlsson Rixon, Georg Oddner and Bruce Gilden, among others, are represented. The Hasselblad Award is represented in this exhibition by Nan Goldin.

In the collection new works are intermingled with the old and the documentary with the more artistic. Works by iconic status captured by the greatest of photographers in history are mixed with somewhat more modest works of less famous colleagues. The Hasselblad Foundation has a vibrant and constantly growing photographic collection that has its main focus on the works of the Hasselblad Award winners as well as contemporary Nordic photographers and artists. The collection also contains a large number of international photographers and artists.

The Hasselblad Award is an international award in photography, which has been handed out since 1980. Hasselblad Foundation's most prominent part of the photographic collection is directly tied to the award. In this exhibition, we show a very limited part of the images from our award winners. The reason is the celebration of the 30 year's anniversary of the Hasselblad Award, on March 5, 2010. A grand exhibition will open at the Hasselblad Center. All the previous winners including the 2010, still secret winner, will take part.
